  6. illustration to the left, the line 
  7. contained within reversed 
  8. arrowheads appears appreciably 
  9. longer than the line of equal 
  10. length contained within the 
  11. normal arrowheads. Hundreds 
  12. of papers have been published 
  13. on this illusion, and some 
  14. interesting facts about it have 
  15. been uncovered, but in my 
  16. opinion it has not yet been 
  17. satisfactorily explained. 
  18. Several entirely different 
  19. factors may cooperate to 
  20. produce it.
